The "curse of the pharaohs" is a myth claiming those disturbing Egyptian mummies suffer harm. It gained fame after the 1922 discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb and the sudden death of its backer, Lord Carnarvon. Despite theories blaming supernatural entities, toxic fungi, or radiation, epidemiological studies show no difference in survival rates for tomb visitors, confirming the curse is merely a cultural myth.
