Green Children Woolpit
The 12th-century legend of the Green Children of Woolpit describes two green-skinned siblings who mysteriously appeared in an English village. Speaking an unrecognized language and eating only raw beans, they claimed to hail from a sunless realm called St. Martin's Land. The boy soon died, but the girl assimilated and lost her green hue. Today, the tale is interpreted as folklore, an alien encounter, or a distorted history of displaced, malnourished Flemish orphans.
